How Much Does it Cost to Create a Website in 2022

Starting your own website can seem daunting at first, but the reality couldn't be further from the truth. It's incredibly easy and in most cases cheap to set up a website these days.

So how much does it actually cost?

This all depends on how much of the workload you're willing to take on.

If you opt to build the website yourself using something like WordPress or a site builder like Wix, then you're going to save a lot of money on development of the actual website. Developers aren't cheap and can cost upwards of £100 on a basic website. But of course if you have the know how and the time then this is going to be your cheapest option.

If you're not up for the challenge of building it yourself there are plenty or hobbyist freelance developers on Fiverr with prices ranging from just a few quid to upwards of several hundred Pounds.

There is also the option of getting in touch with me. I offer bespoke websites at a reasonable price, as well as personalised help in growing your business to the next level. Get in touch with the contact form above to get started today!

Another significant cost to your site is the domain. These can range from incredibly cheap to hundreds of Pounds.

With a domain you'll also need hosting, this can cost a lot depending on who you choose to host your website and whether you want to pay monthly or yearly. If you have a WordPress site you'll probably choose someone like Bluehost where hosting can cost over £100 for an entire year. If you're using Wix you have the option of paying monthly or over the year and can reach up to £30 a month for higher tiers.

All in all you could be paying around £20-£50 on the low end, rising to well over £500 on the high end. In general we can say that the more money you throw at it the better the quality will be, but this isn't always the case, every decision needs thought, and there are very good options on the cheap that can be very viable for most people.

This is a rough breakdown of what you could expect to spend over the year, on the low end you could end up spending just under £50 rising to almost £500 on the high end.
